By Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Narrated by Simon Vance 58 Hrs and 5 mins Brilliance Publishing I had a great time listening to the audiobooks for this years Classics finalists. A great variety of stories. Sometimes when listening to an audiobook I have a different respect for the book, especially when a fantastic narrator give voice to the characters. Narrator Simon Vance wins the award this year with his winning narration of The Complete Sherlock Holmes, a whopping 58 hours! It is a production that all Sherlock readers would find a great addition to their collections. My personal favorite, the recording of Love in the Time of Cholera. I had attempted to read this book earlier this year and kept putting it down before getting too far. But not with the audio! I think there is a great selection here that any listener will be able to find a pleasant and enjoyable experience. I especially love to listen in the car. |

I just discovered that the length of the recording is 58 hrs and 5 mins .... that's a lot of Sherlock Holmes. It's a good thing that Simon Vance is such an amazing narrator. I love listening to 'classic' titles on audio....Kindle makes this so easy and inexpensive with their Whispersync program....pairing a Kindle book with the downloadable audio. For some of the classics you can get the Kindle book for free and then get that audio for $.99. That's a hard deal to beat.
ReplyDeleteJust found your blog - directed here through a Goodreads post- I WILL be back
ReplyDeleteWhat a terrific collection! No wonder it won. You can't go wrong with Sherlock Holmes, and of course Simon Vance is a virtuoso. I sure would love to win this. :-)
ReplyDeleteyikes 58 hours! I think that beats out the longest book i've ever listened to by at least 10...although, I do love me some Simon Vance - I may have to pick it up
