They both have personal issues that they are learning to work out. Healing and forgiveness takes time and this book really delves deep into the different sides of healing emotionally. Although Thomas and Aria are experiencing different kinds of battles, they find that support in each other that is needed to push them to look towards the future, and take the steps to begin the healing process.
I think that Thomas and Aria were a good fit for each other. The story has a powerful storyline to it and the emotional ups and downs it takes to get over the hump. Some of their healing takes time and this story takes place over a couple of years.
Throughout the story Aria is a music lover, she plays the piano and likes to compose as well. This comes to an underlying focus throughout the story and the way she relates music into the real world, or how to relate the emotions of the real world into her music.
I would recommend this book to those that like to read about family issues, coming of age stories. It's a very clean read with a gripping plot.
