The Hunt by Andrew Fukuda

Don’t Sweat. Don’t Laugh. Don’t draw attention to yourself. And most of all, whatever you do, do not fall in love with one of them.
Gene is different from everyone else around him. He can’t run with lightning speed, sunlight doesn’t hurt him and he doesn’t have an unquenchable lust for blood. Gene is a human, and he knows the rules. Keep the truth a secret. It’s the only way to stay alive in a world of night—a world where humans are considered a delicacy and hunted for their blood.
When he’s chosen for a once in a lifetime opportunity to hunt the last remaining humans, Gene’s carefully constructed life begins to crumble around him. He’s thrust into the path of a girl who makes him feel things he never thought possible—and into a ruthless pack of hunters whose suspicions about his true nature are growing. Now that Gene has finally found something worth fighting for, his need to survive is stronger than ever—but is it worth the cost of his humanity?

Hello! This year has been a complete roller coaster for me as far as events in my life go. As most of you know by now I review for several different blogs. I have already turned in my full review of this book to one of them and it will be posted soon, but today here on my own little corner of the interwebs I wanted to share some thoughts on this book, but wanted to try something different to spice up my week. So I am going to write my thoughts out, in paragraphs that start with the letters of the book H.U.N.T I have no idea where this is going to go and I do not plan on editing!

Hunting humans is what vampires do, but in a world where humans are almost extinct it's near to impossible to taste real human blood. The vampires that Andrew Fukuda have presented here in this story, eat raw meat. They are more civilized, attend school, have social events and a form of government set up.

Usually these vampires are stoic, well behaved and have a very uniformed in the way they interact with each other. The only time we get to see outlandish and crazy behavior is when they smell humans. The instinct to destroy and devour them is uncontrollable and they will do anything to get to the blood that they crave and desire.

Now, Gene has been chosen to participate in The Hunt. An event that all vampires desire to participate...except him. But he cannot show his concern, he cannot ask to be replaced. The countdown to the day of the event is coming near. He is placed in a room that is closest to the dome in which the humans are being kept. His closeness and desires to be near them gets stronger every day...but so does everyone else's.

The danger is high, constant suspense of what could happen next and who would break down first. The days before the hunt are driving the participants crazy, and they are all in very close quarters. Will they survive each other before the hunt even begins?

Well! That was interesting, not as hard as I thought, but maybe something I'll try to do again sometime. Hope you enjoyed!

Best thing about this book was the uniqueness of the story. Great writing that kept the suspense building and I never could figure out what would happen in the end.

Happy Reading!!!
