I was pleasantly surprised getting into this story I have been reading a lot of angel stories in YA books over the past year and this cover had me wondering if it was going to be one of those books that I swear I have read it before.
Needless to say it was not. I loved the fact that I could just throw myself into this book and just enjoy the story. It's fun with lots of exciting scenes and plot twists. Some of the things like the borderline instant love and the ease to which some of the events ended were a too easily gained, but overall I was really ok with that. I thought that it was thoroughly an enjoyable read and I enjoyed that.
It had all of the aspects a good paranormal young adult story should have. I would not call any of the plot twist predicable because I didn't see any of it coming.
I liked the creativity behind the Guardians and their history and duties. The side characters have a mix of different relationships with Lil.
The funnest thing is that Lil is a gypsy and that is something that I have not seen a lot of books and she is a great and entertaining main character, spunky and feisty.
Lil goes through some training and learning to develop her powers. Enjoyable fighting scenes and a little romance on the side. It was a very fast read and I thought it was very well written, I enjoyed it. 4 stars
When you said, "...this cover had me wondering if it was going to be one of those books that I swear I have read it before...", I had been thinking the same thing. I've read a few angel books, but more and more, the ones I haven't read yet are running together. Covers and synopses all run together after a while. It's getting worse than the vampire books! Glad to know that this concept can still stay fresh no matter how overused.
