Fifteen-year-old Bridget Liu just wants to be left alone: by her mom, by the cute son of a local police sergeant, and by the eerie voices she can suddenly and inexplicably hear. Unfortunately for Bridget, it turns out the voices are demons – and Bridget has the rare ability to banish them back to whatever hell they came from.
Terrified to tell people about her new power, Bridget confides in a local priest who enlists her help in increasingly dangerous cases of demonic possession. But just as she is starting to come to terms with her new power, Bridget receives a startling message from one of the demons. Now Bridget must unlock the secret to the demons' plan before someone close to her winds up dead – or worse, the human vessel of a demon king
I am so glad that I made time to read this book before the year was over. It was an amazing read and very entertaining. There is not one other book that I read this year that has Demons and a high religious overtones that I rated a 5 star, but this one deserves it.
The subject matter was handled so well that the story flowed so well I felt like I was watching a movie the whole time. The romance was cute, the main character was funny and kick ass and all of the mystery and tension builds at a perfect pace until the amazing end that I only partly saw coming. The imagery was fun and intense that the final chapters made it impossible to put the book down.
The best thing about the story is that it doesn't end with a cliffhanger but with potential for the story to carry on for a series, if they wanted to do so.
I was a little nervous at the beginning with a lot of angst and drama happening but as the story developed and the mystery unravels it had me hooked.
This is going on my favorite reads of 2011 list.
The cover alone would grab my attention, but the synopsis makes the story could be really cheesy or really good. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I'll add it to my to read list.
