Outside In by Maria V Snyder

OMG!! It's finally here!! This is the 2nd book so if you have not read Inside Out, I do not want to spoil this book for you but I will do my best to not do that!
Summary from http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/8901953-outside-in
Me? A Leader? Okay, I did prove that there's more to Inside than we knew. That a whole world exists beyond this cube we live in. And finding that led to a major rebellion - between worker scrubs like me and the snobby uppers who rule our world. Make that ruled. Because of me, we're free. I thought that meant I was off the hook, and could go off on my own again - while still touching base with Riley, of course. He's the one upper I think I can trust. But then we learned that there's outside and then there is Outside. And something from Outside wants In

That's right! There is something outside of this world of pipes and cubes that wants IN! This book brings in constant danger and war-like behavior. We find Trella is physically hurt in almost every chapter of this very fast paced action packed novel. Although there is rebellion and fighting in the first novel, this second novel takes on a whole new level. It becomes war. We see bombs, tremors, physical fighting, amazing technological torture scenes and some unbelievable surgery work from the Doctor.
Trella has started the rebellion and now she's ready to relax and enjoy the "new life" with Riley and just explore and enjoy what she can. But the people of inside (especially the scrubs) see her as a leader. Trella is fighting with the need to not want to be a leader and the desire of wanting a fair say for both upper and lower levels in this new community. We see a little bit of a more mature romance between Trella and Riley so unlike the first novel this one should be approached by more mature teens, not only for the romance, but some of the descriptions of the fighting gets a little nasty. (Think: Mockingjay)
In my mind Maria V Snyder is just as much of a genius as Suzanne Collins (Hunger Games Trilogy) and deserves just as much attention and love. I highly recommend her novels for any fan of Dystopian stories.

One Hundred Candles by Mara Purnhagen

From Goodreads.com
It’s taken a long time for Charlotte Silver to feel like a normal teenager. But now that she’s settled in a new school, where she’s made friends who know about her parent’s infamous paranormal investigations, it feels like everything is falling into place. And what better way to be normal than to go on a date with the popular Harris Abbott? After all, it’s not as if Noah is anything more than a friend.

But Charlotte’s new life takes a disturbing detour when Harris takes her to a party where they play a game called One Hundred Candles. It all seems like harmless, ghostly fun. Until the spirits supposedly unleashed by the game start showing up at school. Now, Charlotte, her friends and her family are in very real danger, and the door that she’s opened into another realm may yield deadly consequences

Spooky stuff is happening at school and you think that Charlotte, the one who can hear ghosts and who's parents are known reality show ghost "hunters', that she would be able to know what's going on immediatly. But there's a mystery going on and Charlotte and her crush Noah are working on figuring it out. This was a wonderfully fast paced book that keeps you interested until the very end.
This is the 2nd book in the series, and this one is def. one you should check out, very entertaining!

I Am Number Four by Pittacus Lore

I Am Number Four. by Pittacus Lore (Lorien Legacies)
I Am Number Four (Lorien Legacies, #1)

In the beginning they were a group of nine. Nine aliens who left their home planet of Lorien when it fell under attack by the evil Mogadorian. Nine aliens who scattered on Earth. Nine aliens who look like ordinary teenagers living ordinary lives, but who have extraordinary, paranormal skills. Nine aliens who might be sitting next to you now.

The Nine had to separate and go into hiding. The Mogadorian caught Number One in Malaysia, Number Two in England, and Number Three in Kenya. All of them were killed. John Smith, of Paradise, Ohio, is Number Four. He knows that he is next.
I AM NUMBER FOUR is the thrilling launch of a series about an exceptional group of teens as they struggle to outrun their past, discover their future—and live a normal life on Earth.
I AM NUMBER FOUR.
I AM NEXT
The book that everybody seems to be talking about (since the movie comes out..today)
Very exciting read about 9 aliens and their cartakers taking shelter here on Earth from the Mogadorian's who have destroyed their home planet of Lorien. The author goes into some great and awesome details of the history of Lorien, the developing of the alien's powers and the overall training of how to use their powers.
Of course as the title shows we follow #4 through this story and his "Cepan" or caretaker/father figure is my favorite character in the book, and I am always a sucker for the animals, loved the dog as well. Back on subject, we follow #4 hiding from the Mogadorian's that have come to Earth that have to kill the guardians in order of their numbers. "John Smith' as he is known through most of the book attends the local high school and of course meets the "girl of his dreams" type character and his enemy, the school bully on his first day.
He also starts developing his powers, powers that he will need to destroy the Mogadorian's when they eventually find him.
The romance aspect of the book was a little on the cheesy side, but it was not heavy and mushy.
I really liked the school Bully, he pushes John, who then in turn has to maintain control (or not) if his powers so their cover is not blown.
The last handful of chapters is where the adventure really gets heavy and exciting, of course leading into the second book.
My favorite parts are where the history of Lorien and the imagry we get of the home planet through the stories and John's training sessions. Of course I loved most of the characters and think the second book will lead us into more adventure and excitement. Oh, and the Alien Mogadorian's are kinda creepy monster creatures that are very well described.
